Biography
Manzi Leon is a self-taught visual and digital artist from Rwanda. He feels alive when creating; applying paint to a canvas has become an ultimate escape that gives him the confidence to voice out what he feels is right as he deals with everyday challenges.
For him, art is a cure or something that heals and uplifts society. As a self-thought artist, he began his career using the painterly painting style to express himself and, more importantly, advocate a desirable appreciation for black females and their essential role in his community. His brush strokes converge on a canvas through painterly style to form a masterpiece.
Manzi has exhibited as an emerging contemporary African voice in Rwanda, Ghana and the USA. His works have been acquired privately and publicly from noteworthy collectors and organisations, including Lester Marks Collection (Houston, Texas), Great Banyan Art Company (New Delhi, India), Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo, Artlife Matters(Accra, Ghana), and collectors from France, the United States, Rwanda, Ghana, and more.
Manzi believes in growth and every opportunity to develop and guide me to become a significant contemporary voice from Africa. His ultimate goal is to form fundamental pillars that will shape his artistic journey, a voice for black women worldwide and a path to be a global player in art.
